Your Post Transplant Recovery Guide

Comprehensive Care Instructions for Optimal Results

At Ultra Hair Transplants, your recovery and long-term results are our top priority. This guide outlines essential aftercare steps following your FUE hair transplant procedure. From immediate care in the first few days to long-term maintenance tips, these instructions are designed to help you heal properly, protect your grafts, and achieve the best possible hair growth outcome.

1. Initial Post Procedure Care (Days 1–7):

  • Keep it Dry: For the first 24–48 hours after your FUE procedure, avoid washing your hair or wetting the recipient area. This allows the grafts to settle securely.
  • Avoid Touching: Refrain from touching or scratching the transplanted area to prevent dislodging grafts.
  • Medications: Take any prescribed medications as directed by your surgeon, especially antibiotics and pain relief medication.

2. Cleaning Your Scalp (Days 2–7):

  • Gentle Washing: After the initial 48 hours, you can start washing your hair gently using a mild, non-medicated shampoo provided by your clinic.
  • Warm Water: Use lukewarm water to wash your hair. Avoid hot water, as it can be harsh on the newly transplanted follicles.
  • Pat Dry: After washing, pat your scalp dry with a clean, soft towel. Avoid rubbing.

3. Daily Care Routine (Days 7 Onward):

  • Shampooing: Continue using the provided mild shampoo for at least the first 10–14 days. After that, you can gradually transition to your regular shampoo.
  • Gentle Massage: When shampooing, use a gentle massaging motion with your fingertips. Do not apply excessive pressure.
  • Moisturize: Apply a recommended moisturizing lotion or oil to the scalp to prevent dryness. Consult your surgeon for specific recommendations.
  • Sun Protection: When going outside, wear a hat or use a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect the scalp from harmful UV rays.
  • Avoid Sweating: For the first two weeks, try to avoid activities that lead to excessive sweating, such as strenuous exercise.

4. Long-Term Maintenance (Weeks 2 and Beyond):

  • Avoid Smoking and Alcohol: Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can hinder the healing process and affect hair growth. Try to minimize or eliminate these habits.
  • Balanced Diet: Maintain a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals, especially those known to promote hair health, such as biotin, vitamins A and C, and protein.
  • Stress Management: Stress can have a negative impact on hair growth. Engage in stress-reduction techniques like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises.
  • Regular Follow-ups: Attend all follow-up appointments with your surgeon to monitor your progress and address any concerns.

5. Patience is Key:

Remember that hair growth after an FUE procedure takes time. It’s normal to experience shedding of transplanted hair in the first few weeks. New hair will gradually grow in its place. Be patient and maintain a consistent care routine. Full results may take several months to become noticeable.

6. Contact Your Surgeon:

If you experience any unusual symptoms, persistent redness, swelling, or signs of infection, contact your surgeon immediately. This guide should serve as a helpful reference for you as you recover from your FUE hair transplant procedure. It’s essential for you to follow these instructions diligently to achieve the best possible results.
